Equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission, it rockets from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds and tops out at 164mph.

Positioned directly behind the driver and ahead of the rear axle, the engine places the mass firmly in the centre of the car rather than hanging over the end. This model holds a vital place in automotive history. Back in the early 1990s, Porsche faced severe financial hardship due to declining sales and the high production costs of the 911, making a buyout look increasingly likely. Debuting in 1996, the Boxster turned everything around. By sharing its front end and engineering platform with the 996, it drastically reduced manufacturing costs and achieved unprecedented sales volume.
